Library Renovation

The renovation of Parks Library aims to create a welcoming environment tailored to the needs of neurodivergent users by offering diverse work and study areas that cater to various sensory preferences.

On the top floor, meticulous attention has been given to providing acoustic comfort, while taking advantage of a subdued color scheme to create a visually and audibly neutral atmosphere.

The inclusion of comfortable, ergonomic furniture and abundant power outlets further ensures optimal working conditions conducive to productivity.

Acoustic paneling, carpet, ceiling tiles, soft furniture and even acoustic lighting all provide a sense of auditory control. Lighting and visual control is also implemented through dimmers to enhance control theory.

The personal study rooms feature an electronic system which allows users to reserve the rooms from a screen directly outside of the room or by using an online system.

Privacy and the blocking of distractions were top priority as smart glass was chosen to give choice to the users.

Soft textures and patterns provide visual interest to keep the space fun and entertaining without becoming too heavy of a distraction for sensitive users.
